Siesta Key is a barrier island off the southwest coast of Florida. The beach here is one of our absolute favorite, warmest beaches in Florida in February.

We love the crystal-clear Gulf waters and white quartz sand. On hot days, the sand never heats up to where you burn your feet when walking across it. This makes it a wonderful beach to visit during warmer months for families who are looking for a place to spend time on the sand, swim, or snorkel.

But given the cold water temperatures during this month, you shouldn’t be planning on spending too much time in the water here. We visited Siesta Key in late February, and my kids did swim in the ocean but not for long periods at a time.

Instead, enjoy the landscape for picnicking, building sandcastles, and playing a couple of rounds of beach volleyball. We always have an amazing time when we visit the beach on Siesta Key.
