Our Experience Driving on the Beach in Port Aransas

Our first experience driving on the beach with out RV was a little bit stressful because we have gotten stuck on the beach before so we were hesitant driving our large 5th wheel on the beach. However, once we looked at all the 2-wheel drive motorhomes and other large campers that were on the beach, we had a little more confidence.

We stayed on the hard packed sand and we didn’t have any problems. Much of the sand on the beaches of Port Aransas stay pretty solid providing miles of drivable beaches. We did have some tow ropes and bungy ropes just in case we needed but it was never a problem.

Drive on the miles of beach driving lanes where the hard packed sand is and you should not have a problem, even if your vehicle is 2-wheel drive.

Often there is a little bit of soft sand at the beginning of the beach entrance points so if you don’t feel comfortable at that particular beach access point you might check another.

We have used multiple different access points and have never had a problem. We always keep a stretchy tow rope with us just in case we need it or someone else needs a little help.
